Lake Stevens: Annexation meeting
Public information meetings regarding the city of Lake Stevens’ planned southwest annexation are scheduled for the next three months.
The next meeting is 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Community Center, 1808 Main St. in downtown Lake Stevens.
Voters in an area south of Frontier Village and between the lake, Highway 204 and extending south of 20th Street SE will have a chance to vote on the measure in November.
Public meetings are also scheduled for Sept. 8 and Oct. 13.

Sub Motive to play at final lake concert
The band Sub Motive is scheduled to perform Friday as part of the city of Lake Stevens’ Music on the Lake concert series.
The show is 7 to 8:30 p.m. at North Cove Park, behind City Hall at 1812 Main St.
The band The Senate had previously been scheduled but is unable to appear because of a memorial event.
Friday’s show is the last in the series for the summer.

Mill Creek: Spruce up off-leash dog area
Volunteers are inviting others to join them for pruning and weeding the off-leash dog area at Willis Tucker Park on Saturday.
The work party is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants should bring gloves, pruning shears, buckets, wheel barrows and other tools. No power tools are allowed. Dogs and children are welcome but should be supervised.
The park, which is run by Snohomish County, is at 6705 Puget Park Drive. For more information, e-mail hermyrsaf@comcast.net. No need to RSVP.
Mukilteo: Golf classic benefits YMCA
The Mukilteo Family YMCA’s second annual Invest in Youth: Help Us Help Others Golf Classic begins at 8 a.m. Sept. 10 at Harbour Pointe Golf Club. The $140 fee includes range balls, cart, prizes and lunch. All proceeds go to the YMCA Invest in Youth campaign, which benefits children and families in Mukilteo School District.

Society names its Pioneers of the Year
Alice Marie Andersen and Phyllis Sherar Anderson are scheduled to be honored as Pioneers of the Year at the Mukilteo Historical Society meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at Rosehill Community Center, on the corner of Third Street and Lincoln Avenue.
They’ll also ride a Model T Ford in the Lighthouse Festival Parade on Sept. 12.
Island County: Volunteers needed
Island County commissioners are looking for volunteers to serve on the Northwest Senior Services Board and the county Water Conservancy Board.
Two people are needed for the Senior Services Board, which is part of the Northwest Regional Council. The board plans services for seniors and people with disabilities. Anyone with an interest in long-term care issues is encouraged to apply. The board meets monthly.
Two people are needed to serve on the Water Conservancy Board, which speeds up the process for water-right transfers. Members receive training and meet only as needed.
The application deadline is Sept. 4.
