Arlington: Town hall to discuss swine flu

Arlington city officials and Cascade Valley Hospital and Arlington School District personnel plan to present a town hall meeting on swine flu from 7 to 8 tonight at Haller Middle School, 600 E. First St., Arlington.

Camano: Auction for animal shelter Saturday

Camano Animal Shelter Association’s annual auction to benefit its animal shelter is set for 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the Camano Senior and Community Center, 606 Arrowhead Road.

The event includes silent and live auctions, appetizers, dessert and drinks.

Tickets are $25 in advance or $35 at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased at the CASA shelter by calling 360-387-1189.

Snohomish: Help plan Kla Ha Ya Days

The organizers of Kla Ha Ya Days want to recruit some new people to help plan the 2010 summer celebration.

The group will hold its board and chairman elections at 7 p.m. Oct. 21.

Anyone interested in assisting the festival should attend the meeting, since several current board members may step down.

The meeting will be at the Boys &Girls Club, 402 Second St.

No application is necessary before the elections. Instead, interested parties should be ready to tell the board why they want to serve.

The annual festival drew about 4,000 people over the course of three days this past July.

Lake Stevens: Learn about annexations

The city of Lake Stevens has planned three public information meetings for October regarding the proposed southwest annexation.

The meetings are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 13, 22 and 29 at Cavelero Mid High School, 8220 24th St. SE. The city is planning to run the meetings in a “round table” discussion format.

Voters in an area south of Frontier Village between the lake, Highway 204 and extending south of 20th Street SE will have a chance to decide the issue for the November election.
