Wind ‘er up for take-off

A study ordered by the state Legislature finds that community airports, such as Paine Field in Everett, will likely have to plan for expansion, despite opposition from neighborhood groups opposed to increased commercial flights.
The groups maintain they’re not being unreasonable NIMBYs and will agree to expansion as long as the planes are powered by rubber bands and made of balsa wood.

This one’s an ounce shy; let’s try another: Oregon legislators have proposed the “Honest Pint Act,” which would assure bar patrons that they’re getting a 16-ounce mug of beer, rather than 15 ounces and foam.
If this passes, The Buzz is heading south with a pocketful of business cards that read “Oregon State Department of Weights and Measures — Pint Inspector.”

That, I’m not lovin’: Espresso stands are taking their cue from McDonald’s and other fast-food restaurants and are offering value menus and thrifty pairings, such as a small coffee and a cup of yogurt for $2.
McDonald’s is fighting back by adopting the uniform of certain espresso stands; Ronald McDonald is now being fitting with a red and yellow bikini.
