Wesco golfers in contention for 4A state title

Western Conference golfers Phil Reedy of Oak Harbor and Dylan Stensland of Snohomish were in a three-way tie for second Wednesday after the first day of the 4A state tournament at Canyon Lakes Golf Course in Kennewick.
Both shot 71s to trail leader Kevin Penner of Eastlake by three shots. Ricky McDonald of Edmonds-Woodway and Michael Jaeger of Snohomish were a shot back at 72.
Defending champion Reid Martin of Kamiak was tied for 15th, nine shots back with a 77.
Meanwhile, Kamiak’s Seo Hee Moon, the 2007 state champion, shot a 69 at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco to take a two-shot lead in the 4A girls tournament.
In the 3A boys meet at Meadow Springs Country Club in Richland, Meadowdale’s Geoff Burks finished in a two-way toe for third with a 74. He was two shots off the lead.
Craig Crawford of Highland Christian, the defending state champion who is vying for his third state title in four years, was one-shot back of Jared Desoteaux of Northwest Christian in second place in the 1B/2B meet.
