President Barack Obama made news at the G20 summit in London.

First, he gave Queen Elizabeth II an iPod, which, in a wacky mix-up, was loaded with “The Queen is Dead” by the Smiths and that Sex Pistols song that goes, “God save the Queen / She ain’t no human being.”

Later, Obama issued a statement declaring that he will not look into the eyes of former Russian President Vladimir Putin to get a sense of his soul.

Tubeless: The Justice Department has asked a judge to toss out the conviction of former Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens because of prosecutorial misconduct.

Prosecutors allegedly withheld crucial information from defense attorneys. Among other things, they didn’t tell the 85-year-old Stevens that the Internet actually isn’t a series of tubes.

Junior speaks: Ken Griffey Jr., who can be prickly with the media, sat down for an interview with The Herald’s Kirby Arnold (Page C1).

Griffey talked about his goals for the upcoming season, one of which is to stay healthy longer than pitcher Erik Bedard.
