LYNNWOOD — Lynnwood baseball head coach Reggie Corns has waited quite a while for this.
According to Corns, in the seven years he has coached at Lynnwood the Royals have never beaten Jackson — that is until Saturday.
Lynnwood jumped on Jackson with five runs in the first inning, and was able to hang on for the 5-3 Wesco South victory.
“It’s a pretty good win,” Corns said.
Lynwood took advantage of five walks in the first inning, and a three-run double by Justin Ansdell helped Lynnwood build its lead.
Cody Schmale entered the game in relief in the first inning to get Jackson out of the inning, but the damage had been done.
“They brought Cody (Schmale) and he pretty much shut things down,” Corns said.
Corns said that Jackson was able to get Lynnwood starter John Mann timed pretty well in the third inning, scoring three runs. Corns replaced Mann with Jason Lotzer, who was able to get a strike out and a ground out to end the inning. Lotzer kept Jackson from threatening the rest of the way.
