Rusty the Reporter

Published 10:37 pm Thursday, April 16, 2009

When a married congressman’s side action turns up dead, it’s up to an old-school newspaper reporter — not one of those opining bloggers — to unearth the truth in the new film “State of Play” (A&E, Page 3).

The reporter is played by Russell Crowe, so you have to wonder whether his character punches a photographer or throws a telephone at an editor.

She’s now Octomom™: Nadya Suleman has filed paperwork to trademark the nickname bestowed on her by the tabloids after she gave birth to eight babies (Page A2.)

She may think she’s being real smart now, but Octomom™ will need a heckuva intellectual property lawyer when she finds out that Angelina Jolie’s face is trademarked.

That ’80s Show: The decade lives on in the world of entertainment this week, as the mock rockers Spinal Tap visit Seattle (A&E, Page 18), and a new documentary tells the story of the little-known Canadian metal band Anvil (A&E, Page 4).

But wait, there’s more: The new film “17 Again” (A&E, Page 5) exhumes that quintessential ’80s movie story line: the personality-switch comedy. Dig out your leg warmers and polo shirts and relive the magic.
