MARYSVILLE — Janelle Kasch started a bit shaky on the mound for Snohomish, but ended the day scoring the winning run as the Panthers defeated Marysville-Pilchuck 7-6 in eight innings Friday in a Wesco North softball game at Marysville-Pilchuck.
The loss kept M-P in the middle of the division standings at 4-4, while Snohomish has locked down on its third-place standing for the time being, two games behind first-place Stanwood.
Kerrianne Gilhang brought home the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth for Snohomish, and was clutch throughtout the day, batting 4-for-5 with two runs scored. Snohomish scored two runs in the sixth to take a 6-5 lead, but M-P’s Megan Rollings (2-for-3, two RBI) tied the score in the bottom of the seventh to send it into extra frames.
“Snohomish definitely came through with their hits in a timely manner,” said M-P head coach KT Allyn, whose team left 14 runners on base.
M-P stormed back in the second inning after giving up three runs to Snohomish in the first, tying the score at 3-3.
