EVERETT — Marysville-Pilchuck clinched the Wesco North baseball championship with a 10-6 victory over Everett on Friday at Everett Memorial Stadium.

“We are very excited, we are looking forward to starting a new season with the playoffs,” M-P coach Kurt Koshelnik said.

“The fifth inning was the story of the game,” Everett coach Chad Boudon said.

Marysville scored five runs on six hits in the inning, including a home run and two doubles.

Devin Peterson and Dane Widness each had three hits for M-P, including a home run for Peterson and a triple for Widmess.

“We went up there with the mind set that we were going to swing,” Koshelnik said of the fifth inning.

Ben Barhanovich batted 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI for Everett.

Lake Stevens 7, Oak Harbor 4 (8 inn.): At Oak Harbor, freshman pitcher Anthony Blackie struck out 10 batters, giving up just three hits in 52/3 innings, to help Lake Stevens to the Wesco North victory. The win clinches the Wesco North’s fifth seed for Lake Stevens. It will play the fourth seed from the South in a play-in game to the 4A District 1 tournament.
