“Elegant Arthur”: To mark Presidents Day, The Buzz today honors one of our lesser-celebrated leaders, our 21st commander-in-chief Chester A. Arthur, 1881-85.
Among his chief accomplishments, Arthur was only the second president, after Martin Van Buren, to lead his nation wearing mutton chops.

The Buzz is doing what it can to cut costs and has reduced its budget for snark and ridicule by 12 percent.
Knock yourself out, kid: With the president set to sign the federal stimulus package into law, you’re probably wondering what’s in it for you: Along with transportation, schools and other spending, you can look forward to about $15 more in take-home pay every other week.
But considering that we’ve essentially just borrowed $787 billion from our kids and grandkids, maybe you ought to just plan on handing over that $15 to them.
