I, Goalie
This week’s Super Kid is 14-year-old Adrian Davila, who attends Cavelero Mid High School in Everett. Adrian is interested in science and is a member of the school’s robot club. He’s currently programming a robot to stop hockey pucks.
We checked the WHL rule book and could find nothing that would prevent the Everett Silvertips from putting skates on Adrian’s robot and starting him at goalie.
Don’t know much about history: Some selected highlights from this day in history.
In 1899, Mount Rainier National Park was established. But the first campers did not arrive until after the invention of the big blue tarp.
In 1958, an expedition completed the first overland crossing of Antarctica in 99 days. The feat was witnessed by a flock of marching penguins who shrugged their shoulders and wondered what all the fuss was about.
In 1977, the U.S. House of Representatives adopted a strict code of ethics, which it then used as a coaster to place under the gin and tonic a lobbyist had given it.
In 2008, Dmitry Medvedev won Russia’s presidential election to succeed Vladimir Putin. World leaders put marbles in their mouths during state visits so they could properly pronounce his name.
