City Council race draws new contender

A fresh face will be among those vying for a seat on the Shoreline City Council in 2009. In December, Echo Lake neighborhood resident Shari Tracey signaled her intent to run for City Council by filing with the state’s Public Disclosure Commission. She has not yet chosen which position she will be running for, but expects to make that decision in late February.
“I’m excited about the prospect of continuing to serve the citizens of Shoreline at the Council level and working collaboratively towards a shared vision of a great community,” Tracey said. “Shoreline is on the threshold of many important decisions, and quality leadership will be crucial.”
Tracey has been a Shoreline resident since 1992, and a long time active member of the community. As an advocate for local parks, Tracey was a driving force behind the popular Parks Bond that passed in 2006. In addition to being a member of Shoreline’s Parks Board, Tracey serves on the city’s Long Range Financial Planning Committee.
As a member of the Partnership for Youth Justice, Tracey serves on the diversion board to help Shoreline’s youth who have committed misdemeanors. She is also a member of the Shoreline Rotary, a Board member of the Echo Lake Neighborhood Association and former board member of Richmond Little League.
Tracey, former chief of staff for a King County Councilmember, currently manages corporate events and special projects for a major law firm in Seattle.
