Shorecrest takes home Invite title

Shorecrest won the Sehome Invite gymnastics meet Jan. 10 in Bellingham, edging Ballard by a score of 147.75 to 146.5.

Shorewood finished third with 136.2 points, followed by Port Angeles with 122.75 points and Sehome/Bellingham with 116.5 points.

Taylor Stern of Ballard won the all-around competition with 34.10 points, while Shorecrest’s Niki Harris placed second (32.7 points) and Latoya Thomas took fourth (31.8 points).

Thomas won the vault with a score of 8.5, Shorecrest’s Neva Mahler took second with a score of 8.45 and Harris finished third with a score of 8.35.

Stern won the bars with a score of 8.8 and Harris took third with a 7.6.

Stern also won the beam with an 8.8 while Thomas placed second with an 8.6.

Stern and Thomas tied for first in the floor exercise with an 8.7 while Harris took third with an 8.65.
