“At times they even talk alike”: An estimated 17 million people tuned in to NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” to see Sarah Palin side by side with her comic doppelganger Tina Fey.

We think the show’s writers missed some opportunities for Palin and Fey, however. The two could have played the identical cousins in “The Patty Duke Show” or done a “Star Trek” spoof where a transporter accident creates an evil Spock and Kirk. But we can’t decide whether Palin or Fey should have worn the goatee.

Crisis solved: Barack Obama’s campaign announced that it had raised $150 million in September, setting a new fundraising record.

We now know how Obama will keep his promise to cut taxes for the middle class: He’ll be turning over his mailing list to the U.S. Treasury.

Whoo-hoo! Washington Mutual’s former president, who left after the Seattle-based bank was seized and sold, is trying to sell his Capitol Hill house for $6.25 million. He originally bought the home in 2005 for $3.87 million.

We sure hope he gets his asking price; it’s not easy to get a mortgage these days.
