Know the dress code before you head out

Good day golfers!
We are finally being treated to summertime — lots of sun, high temperatures and outdoor activities. This week’s question comes from Lana in Everett, “do golf courses have a dress code?” The answer is yes – most if not all golf courses have dress codes and it’s best to know what they are before going out to play.
At Ballinger Lake Golf Club our dress code is not as strict as others but we have one nonetheless. Our dress code is shirts with sleeves, walking shorts/pants and appropriate golf shoes. No tank tops for men, no cut-offs for either men or women, no bikini tops or bottoms (sorry guys). While we do not require collared shirts keep in mind other golf courses may. Dress code is a part of proper etiquette in golf, it is the policy at most courses and is in place for a reason. When the weather is hot, like it has been, you can still dress to be cool but maintain the standard dress code required. It is a great excuse to go out shopping and buy yourself some new “golf clothes”.
Another etiquette reminder is not to confront your fellow golfer when problems arise on the course. If there is a problem, contact the Pro Shop to handle the situation. This is a busy time for golf courses and more people are out there playing — so be patient and remember we’re all out there to enjoy a great game of golf.
Golf courses see a lot of heat stroke on hot days always keep yourself well hydrated with water or Gatorade when out on the course.
Lastly, your courses pro shop and maintenance staff is working hard right now—let them know you appreciate their work!
Keep the e-mails coming!
