Aquafest starts today with children’s parade
The Lake Stevens Aquafest festival is set for 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. today through Sunday. Children of all ages are invited to join in the Fiesta Children’s Parade at 6 p.m. today at Hartford Drive and Grade Road at the fire station in Lake Stevens. Check-in is 5 p.m.
Registration forms are available at the Lake Stevens Library, 1804 Main St., or City Hall, 1812 Main St. The festival also includes a classic car show, horse-drawn carriage rides, the Bite of Lake Stevens, arts and crafts booths, music and entertainment, carnival rides, a grand parade and a boat parade. A fireworks show is scheduled at dusk Saturday. Tickets for the carnival can be purchased on-site or at Jay’s Market in the Main Street Mall downtown Lake Stevens.

Monroe offers free movies and popcorn
Movies Under the Moon Film Series on Fridays features crafts at 7:30 p.m., live entertainment at 8 p.m. and a movie at dusk. Movies are free and include popcorn and water.
The following movies are scheduled: “Madagascar,” July 25; “Dreamer,” Aug. 8; “Superman,” Aug. 15; and “Enchanted,” Aug. 22. The program is provided by The Monroe Arts Council, the Monroe-Sky Valley Family YMCA and the City of Monroe Parks and Recreation Department. Call 360-804-2165.
Join in the Mountlake Terrace Library parade
The Mountlake Terrace Library invites the public to participate in the Tour de Terrace Parade at 5:30 p.m. Friday at 23300 58th Ave. W., Mountlake Terrace. Organizers plan a pre-parade pizza party at which participants can create “buggy” characters and then march in the parade at 7 p.m. Call 425-776-8722.
Gold Bar’s summer festival this weekend
The Gold Dust Days Heritage Festival begins from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and runs to Sunday in Gold Bar. Event hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. The festival kicks off Friday a kids day featuring American Indian flute and harmonica lessons.
The weekend event also features a pageant, gold panning, food, arts and crafts booths, a parade, a show-n-shine car and motorcycle show, and a dance at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Snohomish Garden Tour is Sunday
The Snohomish Garden Club present its 24th annual Garden Tour noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the Snohomish Public Library, at Fourth and Maple in downtown Snohomish, or at various garden centers in the area.
The show features seven gardens in historic downtown Snohomish and Dutch Hill. Proceeds from the tour fund community projects including the hanging flower baskets in downtown Snohomish.

South County Senior Center salmon barbecue
The South County Senior Center presents summer activities, including a salmon barbecue 5 p.m. Monday at the South County Senior Center patio, 220 Railroad Ave., Edmonds. The cost is $5 per person. Pre-registration is requested. The event is sponsored by the Edmonds-Westgate QFC.
The senior center also presents a variety of activities, including a Summer Olympics, dancing for seniors and senior exercise classes. Call 425-774-5555.
