Bathroom expressions

Susanna Ryan, a Shorecrest High School senior who just graduated, recently spent several weeks painting a mural in a girls’ rest room at the school.
The mural is in the C-Hall girls’ bathroom, which is not one of the new rest rooms the district recently renovated. The hall has mostly science and world languages.
“I incorporated many aspects of what we learn in science classes at school, like the periodic table of elements, stages of matter, and science tools, but I tried to make it fun,” said Ryan.
There is also some language, including “Shorecrest” in sign language and “good-bye” in different languages.
Ryan designed the mural and painted most if it herself, along with classmate Laura Numata. About a dozen students helped in small pieces and provided moral support.
Ryan started the project in May and worked almost everyday after school until about 5 p.m. until it was finished.
