Mountlake Terrace capitalizes on Shorewood miscues

SHORELINE — At the end of five innings Shorewood was behind 3-0, but Shorewood pitcher Alex Kuniyoshi had only allowed two hits and had six strikeouts.
“Kuniyoshi pitched a good game,” said Brett Medalia, Shorewood’s assistant coach. “We just didn’t play good defense.”
Mountlake Terrace capitalized on five Shorewood errors to earn a 5-0 Wesco South victory Tuesday and remain undefeated in the division.
Three errors by Shorewood in the second inning allowed the Hawks to score two runs.
Second baseman Ryan Sells hit a double and Texas Tech-bound Garrett Totten had a solo home run for Mountlake Terrace.
J.K. Dykes, a junior infielder, was 2-for-2 for Shorewood.
“Mountlake Terrace is a good team,” said Medalia. “If you want to beat them, you can’t put the ball on the ground like that.”
