Marysville-Pilchuck overcomes Lake Stevens

LAKE STEVENS — Jordan Salcedo had quite a game for Marysville-Pilchuck.
He scored the second goal in the 35th minute to secure the Tomahawks’ 2-0 Wesco North victory on Thursday night at Lake Stevens.
Then on an attempted header in the second half, Salcedo collided with Lake Stevens’ Ethan Stewart, which resulted in both players being removed from the game with gashes to their heads. Salcedo will need stitches.
Marysville-Pilchuck coach Geoff Kittle said that despite trailing 2-0 at halftime, Lake Stevens played aggresively throughout.
“We knew Lake Stevens had come back in a couple games,” said Kittle. “We tried to keep the pressure on.”
Brady Ballew scored the first goal in the 20th minute on an assist from Nick Burdett.
“Burdett combined with Brady and Brady sent a long shot over the top of the keeper and it ducked below the crossbar,” said Kittle.
Erik Cruz recorded a shutout for Marysville-Pilchuck.
