Not tonight, honey, I’m watching the tournament

Today, it’s all about giving the people what they want:
To Starbucks, that means mixing things up. The company is introducing new espresso machines and bringing back freshly ground coffee.
Wall Street was a little disappointed, sending its stock downward. Investors were hoping for something more substantial to keep up with the bikini-clad local baristas, but Starbucks’ mermaid uniforms are still in development.
To Valparaiso, it’s winning basketball. Valpo handed the UW one more indignity last night, bouncing the Huskies from the College Basketball Invitational tournament.
It was bad enough when the Huskies couldn’t make the 65-team NCAA field or the 32-team NIT, but now they’ll never get to raise that banner proclaiming themselves the 98th-best team in America.
At least practice won’t interfere with watching the Cougs on TV today.
To Carolyn Hax, it’s sex. Today’s letter-writer says his wife is withholding her affections. Carolyn tells him he needs to know why, even if the truth is painful.
If the truth involves him watching too many college basketball games on the tube, it’s probably a bad time to bring it up.
