EVERETT — Elizabeth Reed’s home run in the bottom of the second inning woke up Everett’s bats on a cold afternoon and the Seagulls captured a 7-1 Wesco North victory over Marysville-Pilchuck at Lincoln Field Thursday night.
The Tomahawks’ Kristina Sherriff had retired the first five Everett batters before Reed stepped to the plate. Reed was 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs scored on the day.
“It was a cold night,” Everett coach Kyle Peacocke said. “That (Reed’s home run) kinda got our bats going.”
Everett’s Valerie Stahl was 2-for-3 with a double, RBI, and run scored. Cory Mattson had a double and struck out 16 batters, but also gave up six walks and hit two Tomahawk batters.
