‘No re-entry’ means we won’t be back

Do your readers know of the Everett Events Center’s “no re-entry” policy? And do they know exactly what it means? I think the general public should be informed!

Last Saturday night my friends, husband and I went to a hockey game at the EEC.

At the end of the first period, we attempted to go outside for a smoke, but were not allowed to leave the building unless we purchased new tickets to get back in. “No re-entry” signs, as well as guards/staff were posted around every door in the building. (You don’t notice the signs when you enter, only when you leave.)

I witnessed various people, those with children/babies; elderly couples etc., approach the door to step out for one reason or another, but were told the same thing.

I also spoke with two EEC employees and inquired as to who instituted such a controlling policy, but they had no clue.

In my 47 years, I have never heard of, or been subjected to, such a ridiculous and unreasonable rule. Not at Sea-Tac Airport, Seahawks Stadium, concerts, restaurants or even the Evergreen State Fair. There’s always been some type of hand stamp or such for re-entry.

Had we known of the EEC’s “no re-entry” policy, we would never have purchased tickets to any event they sponsored.

So my group and I decided to protest by leaving the game and opted to spend several hundred dollars at one of the local tribal casinos.

Hey, chalk another one up for those casinos. Their rules are pretty clear going in, and there’s never a “no re-entry” sign on the way out!

Not another dime will I spend in downtown Everett.
