It’s a struggle to make ends meet

I read the piece in the Dec. 16 Herald regarding the city employees not making enough salary to cover inflation (“City wage increases lower than inflation”).

I live in Everett because it’s too expensive for me to live in Seattle, where I have to work, because I can’t find a job in Everett that pays me enough money to support my family. That means I am up at 4:30 a.m. to catch a 6 a.m. bus to Seattle, and not home until 6:30 at night or later if there is bad traffic, which happens more and more often these days!

And still I struggle to have enough money to support my family. So, I can definitely empathize with the city employees. Christmas at our house has few, if any, presents. We’ve raised our son to know that Santa isn’t real, so that way he has never been disappointed on Christmas morning if he has none or few presents.
