He ran on term limits, broke them

Regarding George Nethercutt: Hopefully people won’t buy into anything this now-career politician says. Watching his ads, he champions himself as winning difficult races. Does everyone remember how he defeated Tom Foley back when Mr. Foley was speaker of the House? Mr. Nethercutt ran and got grassroots support to defeat Mr. Foley with a term limits campaign.

Here we had one of the most influential posts in Washington and ousted him because he had been in office too long.

Let’s advance to Mr. Nethercutt. When his three terms were up in Congress did he walk away gracefully as promised? No, he did not. And his excuse was “they (the people) still want me in office.”

Now he wants to move on to the Senate. In his ads he finishes off with the now popular “and I approved this message.” Well Mr. Nethercutt, I don’t approve of you and this is one vote you will never get.
