Some kids won’t be throwing their caps

Published 9:00 pm Wednesday, May 28, 2003

One month from now seniors across Snohomish County will be throwing their caps in the air after walking across a stage to get their diplomas.

In the Everett School District the number of seniors graduating will be lower than in other schools thanks to the culminating exhibition. Since the 2000-2001 school year, every student wishing to receive a diploma in the Everett School District has been required to complete the “senior project.”

Although I have spent 13 years passing classes and meeting the same requirements as other kids, I will not be graduating with my class. I will be forced to take summer school and must delay college in the fall, even though I have met the same requirements as all other students.
