LYNNWOOD — Jim Smith, a 16 year veteran of the City Council and long time Lynnwood businessman announced his candidacy for reelection for Lynnwood City Council July 23.
Smith, a senior member of the council, said experience is a key issue for his re-election.
“There is a need to remember the promises and agreements that have been made orally throughout the years,” Smith said.
Smith also said there is a need for a cost efficient city government during a period of challenging budgets.
“We need to hold the line on unnecessary taxes, enhance public safety, and make Lynnwood the most livable city in South County,” Smith said. “All of our residents benefit from top-notch police, medic and fire protection as well as opportunities for family activities in our parks and recreation programs.”
Smith, 52, was born in Seattle and has lived in Lynnwood throughout his adult life. He is married to Sherry and has three daughters, Becky, Jamie and Ashley. He has two bachelor degrees from Central Washington University, one in Business Administration and one in Law &Justice/Pre-Law.
Smith is currently the marketing director for an Arlington based aviation corporation. He is a commercial pilot and a Certified Flight Instructor and recently taught private pilot ground school at Edmonds Community College.
