Place this product behind the counter

Regarding the Dec. 23 front-page article, “Ephedrine too easy to get, critics say”: I wish the stuff had never been made so accessible. I know that my daughter has used and abused products with Ephedrine for years. Now she is a methamphetamine addict. She also has been involved in stealing “Sudafed,” which is a major source of ephedrine. Large quantities of Ephedrine are used in the production of methamphetamine.

I believe that all stores should remove such products from their shelves or at least place them behind a counter. There is an epidemic of illegal meth use. Although production may not be stopped completely, by making Ephedrine difficult to obtain, the neighborhood “cook” may not be able to produce and sell his poison. In turn, we all would benefit.
