Let’s regulate them way, way out

The Aug. 15 letter written by Mike Myhre (“Cell Towers: County needs to have a master plan“)certainly hit the nail on the head. Snohomish County needs to take a look at regulating the construction of towers of any kind all over the area. I was pleased to see that the application to build eight towers in the Snohomish valley was denied recently. These towers would have in no way contributed to anyone in the county except for station KRKO owner, Andy Skotdal.

Of course, only four of the towers Skotdal proposed building were for his radio station anyhow – the other four towers would have been leased to cell phone service providers. That would have been only the beginning. In an area heavily populated by all sorts of birds and other animals, those towers would have stuck out like a sore thumb. That’s not to mention the impact it would have had on the wildlife parks in the area. Perhaps cell towers are needed, but to put them in proximity to homes and wildlife sanctuaries is damaging to what is left of our delicate environment. Let’s regulate them way, way out.
