Roger Haug inspired students and colleagues

I would like to congratulate Roger Haug on his recent retirement and also thank him for his unwavering dedication to the students, parents and staff of the Everett School District. (Julie Muhlstein column, “Mr. Everything at Everett high schools retires after 43 years.”) I had the honor and privilege of working with Roger Haug for several years at Cascade High School. In that time, he never once turned his back on any student no matter how challenging the situation.

My positive experience as an On Time Graduation coordinator was directly related to Roger, as well as many other teachers within the Cascade High School community. Roger is an individual who thought outside of the box when working with students and approached them independently and not collectively. He also exhibited respect and compassion while maintaining boundaries that were appropriate and thoughtful.

I believe that many students would look to Mr. Haug as a person who helped them navigate their high school experience, as well as motivated them to look at the “big picture” and recognize that this was a stepping stone to endless possibilities for their future endeavors.

With heart felt respect and admiration, job well done.
