M-P earns top volleyball seed

MARYSVILLE – Marysville-Pilchuck defeated Kamiak in a one-game Western Conference 4A volleyball tiebreaker, 15-10, to capture the No. 1 seed in the Wesco 4A Wednesday.

Stephanie Parker led Marysville-Pilchuck with 15 assists and teammate Ashley Isakson had seven kills.

Kamiak will go to the bi-districts as the No. 2 seed, defeating Cascade 16-14. Cascade took the No. 3 seed, and will be hosting Franklin today at 7 p.m.

Sehome won its first tiebreaker 15-11 over Mountlake Terrace, but lost to Shorecrest 15-0 and takes the No. 6 spot. Sehome will play at Inglemoor today at 7 p.m.

With its victory over Sehome, Shorecrest grabbed the No. 5 seed and plays at Eastlake today at 7 p.m.

No. 4 seed Edmonds-Woodway hosts Roosevelt today at 7 p.m.

  • Granite Falls 2, Steilacoom 0: Granite Falls advanced to districts this weekend with its 15-1, 15-9 victory over Steilacoom. Denise Wilbur was 8-for-8 serving with three kills for Granite Falls.

  • South Whidbey 2, Chimacum 0: South Whidbey won the bi-district playoff game 15-4, 15-8. The Falcons were led by Erin Hussy’s nine assists and four kills, and teammate Jamie Nelson’s four aces.

  • Lopez 3, Grace Academy 0: Grace Academy was knocked out of the Northwest A League playoffs with the loss.
