Silvertips up to No. 4 in CHL poll and Wednesday pregame links

The weekly CHL poll is largely symbolic because there is no crossover play between teams in the WHL, OHL and QMJHL. However, it’s worth noting that the Everett Silvertips continue to gain CHL-wide recognition as they moved up to No. 4 in this week’s poll.

Fifth-ranked Medicine Hat will be in town Friday. The Tigers won (21-5-1-0, 43 points) won their 10th straight game on Tuesday.

As we noted in today’s story, Carter Hart and Noah Juulsen earned invites to the Team Canada’s World Junior training camp. Hart is one of three goaltenders invited to camp and Sportsnet’s Gare Joyce says the starting job is Hart’s to lose:

Another Sportsnet article looks at Team Canada snubs. Tyler Benson of the Vancouver Giants was the only WHL player on the list.

The Tips take on the Kootenay Ice tonight at 7:05. It’s the only meeting of the year between the two teams. Everett knocked off the Ice 2-0 last year in Cranbrook, B.C.

Brett Kemp and Lucas Skrumeda each were full participants in Tuesday’s practice so I’d expect them to be well enough to play. Graham Millar did not skate in practice so it appears the overager is still a few days away from returning to action. All three are listed as day-to-day on this week’s WHL injury report.
