Front Porch: Conservation grants available

Grants available

Grant applications are available for the Snohomish County Conservation Futures program. They are due by 5 p.m. Feb. 28 and can be submitted by mail, email or hand delivery. More information, including the application, is available online at http://tinyurl.com/SCCFgrant.

The Snohomish County Conservation Futures Advisory Board plans to award $2 million in grants this year. The money can be used to preserve open space, farmland or timberland. The grant process is competitive and matching funds are encouraged, according to the county.

Mmm candy: This year’s candy fundraiser for Camp Fire Snohomish County runs Jan. 27 through Feb. 20. Offerings at $5 per box include mints, caramel clusters, Almond Roca and butter toffee peanuts. Quilters celebrate: The Mukilteo Lighthouse Quilters Guild celebrates its 12th birthday with a celebratory program at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave. Anyone who has an interest in quilting and fabric arts is invited to attend.

The guild regularly meets 6:45 p.m. third Tuesdays at the Rosehill Community Center. New members are welcome. More info: www.mlquilters.org.
