Everett Silvertips parents in town for weekend homestand

The Everett Silvertips held a brief skate session Thursday led by assistants Mitch Love and Brennan Sonne. It was your typical Thursday-between-game day skates and didn’t last long as Everett takes on Kelowna Friday.

It’s Tips Parents Weekend Friday and Saturday and parents were trickling into the arena during the on-ice session. Bernie Petit, father of Tips goalie Mario, made his way into the tunnel and we briefly chatted. Bernie flew in Thursday from Ile-des-Chenes, Manitoba, and was among a number of prairie province parents who followed the Tips on their recently completed East Division swing.

Bryce Kindopp missed Wednesday’s game with an undisclosed injury and skated on his own after practice. He is day-to-day and the only player I noticed missing during Thursday’s skate.

First, Carter Hart was named the WHL Goaltender of the Month for February. The article notes (and what I found noteworthy) is that Hart wasn’t named Goalie of the Week in February, but his body of work was such that it warranted his selection. That’s consistency.

Second, Tips rookie forward Orrin Centazzo was in the building Wednesday and seated in the auxiliary press area alongside Everett’s other scratches. He hasn’t yet undergone surgery for his broken collarbone, but is expecting he will within the next week.

Finally, the Tips dropped to No. 9 in the latest CHL poll:
