Hot Tickets: Top softball squads to meet Friday

Five local prep matchups to keep an eye on this week:
1. Boys golf: Edmonds-Woodway, Kamiak, Snohomish, Mariner at Mariner Invitational at Walter Hall Golf Course, 3 p.m. Tuesday. Kamiak probably will be the best team in Wesco 4A this spring. Snohomish, which finished seventh at last year’s 4A state meet, graduated some top players but returns state qualifier Nolan Armbruster.
2. Prep baseball: Glacier Peak at Shorewood, 4 p.m. Tuesday. Two teams that finished tied for first place along with Lynnwood at the top of the Wesco 3A South standings last season will match up in a non-league contest. The host Thunderbirds will be looking for their first win of the season.
3. Girls tennis: Jackson at Glacier Peak, 3:30 p.m. Friday. These two teams posted unbeaten conference records last season. This year, they should battle it out for the Wesco 4A crown.
4. Prep softball: Everett at Jackson, 4 p.m. Friday. Everett took third place at last year’s 3A state tournament. Jackson placed fourth at last year’s 4A state tourney. Neither squad has lost a game so far this spring.
5. Prep boys soccer: Lynnwood at Marysville Pilchuck, 7 p.m. Friday. These teams had good seasons in 2016, but fell short of the 3A state tournament. The Royals are off to a rough start this spring — they’ve surrendered 11 goals in their two contests.
