SNOHOMISH — The City of Snohomish utility payment drop box near City Hall was broken into over the weekend and customer utility payments may have been stolen.

City staff discovered the break-in Monday morning. Customers who put payments in the box between Friday and early Monday should contact City Hall to see if the payment was received. Call 360-568-3115.

Any customers whose payments are missing are urged to contact their bank immediately. The city will reimburse customers for any bank fees resulting from account closures or check holds related to the payment theft.

Utility payments dropped off April 6 or before are not affected by the break-in.

The drop box will remain closed until it can be repaired or replaced. In the meantime, customers can either mail their payments or come into City Hall to deliver payment directly.
