Here are four local prep events to keep an eye on during the next seven days:
1. Softball: Meadowdale at Mountlake Terrace, 4 p.m. Tuesday. This game could very well determine the Wesco 3A South champion. The host Hawks are 12-2. The Mavericks are one game back at 11-3.
2. Girls track and field: Wesco 4A Meet, 4:30 p.m. Wednesday/5:30 pm. Friday. The eight Wesco 4A squads gather at Snohomish High School. Athlete to watch: Lake Stevens’ Hannah Aaenson, who has the third-longest shot put throw (40 feet, 3 inches) and the 10th-longest discus toss (118-8) in the state’s 4A ranks.
3. Boys golf: 3A District championship, 11 a.m. Monday. State-tournament spots will be on the line during this meet at Walter Hall Golf Course in Everett. Golfer to watch: Arlington’s Connor Stephens, who shot a 2-over par 72 at last week’s Wesco 3A North match.
4. Girls golf: 2A District 1/2 championship, noon Monday. Archbishop Murphy, Cedarcrest, Granite Falls, Mountlake Terrace and Lakewood will compete against teams from the Northwest Conference, one of the toughest girls golf circuits in the state, at Skagit Golf & Country Club in Burlington.
