Arlington: Tribe helps fund street work
The Stillaguamish Tribe is contributing $100,000 toward improving and repaving the street in front of the Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington. The tribe’s medical clinic sits across the street from the hospital. A presentation by tribal officials is set for 7 p.m. Monday at the Arlington City Council meeting in council chambers, 110 E. Third St.
Learn to manage mud and manure in winter
“Mud, Manure and You” is a free farm workshop by the Snohomish Conservation District set for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the meeting room adjacent to Arlington City Hall, 238 N. Olympic Ave.
The class offers tips and tools to help make life on the farm easier when the non-stop rains start falling.

Mukilteo: Officers to flip pancakes
Police officers and firefighters in Mukilteo are hosting a pancake breakfast fundraiser this weekend.
The breakfast will raise money for “Shop With A Cop and Firefighter,” an annual event in which people in public safety take children shopping for Christmas, officer Cheol Kang said.
The breakfast is planned from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the fire station along 47th Place W. The event is free, but donations are encouraged, Kang said.
Stanwood: Art show for education begins
The 30th annual American Association of University Women Stanwood-Camano Art Show for Education is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Stanwood-Camano Fairgrounds on Pioneer Highway.
The invitational art show features more than 75 regional artists displaying hand-painted porcelain, ceramics, glass, jewelry, artistic basketry, outdoor art, wall hangings, quilts, textiles and paintings.
Some of the artists plan to demonstrate their techniques and skills during the weekend.
Proceeds from the art show benefit local scholarships.

Get help with your genealogy research
Beginning genealogists and experts are invited to the Stanwood Library for a two-hour research Ancestry Workshop from 9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 22 in the library meeting room, 9701 271st St. NW.
Rob Branigin, one of Sno-Isle Libraries two genealogy experts plans, to offer tips on tracking down ancestors using Ancestry Library Edition, a genealogy database that library patrons can use at the library to locate census, immigration and other records.
Participants can use one of 12 laptops provided by Sno-Isle or can bring their own.
