Prep boys soccer: Shorewood 4, Mountlake Terrace 1

SHORELINE — Shorewood scored three goals in the second half Saturday to move on to the second round of the 3A District tournament.

Goals from Shorewood’s Mahmoud Santo and Terrace’s Ivan Melchor knotted the score at 1-1 at halftime. In the 58th minute, Thunderbirds midfielder Kabir Khan crossed a ball on-net that was headed in by senior forward Sven Pandel to give Shorewood a 2-1 lead. Seven minutes later, forward Callahan Gobel finished a Garrett Miyaoka pass to put the Thunderbirds up 3-1. The final Shorewood goal came in the 75th minute when midfielder Luis Toledo scored after getting past a defender.

Shorewood faces Edmonds-Woodway in the second round at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Edmonds Stadium. Mountlake Terrace takes on Marysville Pilchuck in a loser-out game at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
