Prep softball: Archbishop Murphy 2, Sultan 0

EVERETT — Archbishop Murphy junior Baylee Robertson pitched a shutout and struck out nine batters Friday en route to a win over Sultan in a Cascade Conference pitchers duel. Robertson, a team captain, surrendered just five hits and walked none.

Murphy’s other team captain, sophomore Alyson Matriotti, went 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and two runs scored. Junior Nicole Manuel went 1-for-3 with an RBI for the Wildcats.

Sultan starter Shelby Jeffries was tagged with the tough-luck loss despite striking out 12 batters and allowing just one earned run on three hits and a walk.
