The ‘e’ decade

Play That Funky Music: Among the collections available at the Everett Public Library’s web site is a gallery of photos by the city’s photographer during the 1970s who caught street scenes, meetings, parades and everyday life. For those who lived in Everett during that time, the photos are a chance to revisit a downtown of department stores and lunch counters, where cops walked beats and the city’s logo was a friendly lowercase “e.”
For added nostalgia, we suggest the following playlist while looking at the photos: “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen, “Dream Weaver” by Gary Wright and “Don’t Stop” by Fleetwood Mac.

My car, the mother: Among the technological advances that automakers are working on are fully automated vehicles that drive without you having to touch the wheel, freeing drivers to eat, read, talk on cellphones or do their makeup.
You still have to behave, because the car “will turn myself around and go home if you two don’t straighten up.”

Gadhafi, duck! As Libyan rebels solidify their control of Tripoli and Moammar Gadhafi’s regime collapses, some are speculating that Gadhafi has fled the country.
Venezuela and Pakistan are seen as countries that might take Gadhafi in, although recent sightings in New Hampshire have led to speculation he’s considering a run for the GOP presidential nomination.
