Prospect update: short lists

Published 12:40 pm Tuesday, August 9, 2011

Today Alberta came out with its short lists for the U-17 World Hockey Challenge (1995-born players) and the Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup (1996-born players). That means all four western Canadian provinces have now gotten down to a reasonable number of candidates for both teams (41 or fewer players on each list). Each province will select 11 players for the U-17 World Hockey Challenge and 20 players for the Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup, with those selections being made in the fall.

Here’s Everett’s prospects who are still on the short lists:

Alberta
U-17: C Ryan Chynoweth
U-17: C Ty Mappin, D Michael Zipp

Saskatchewan
U-17: C Carson Stadnyk, G Casey Parker
U-16: C Dawson Leedahl, LW Nicholas Pouliot

Manitoba
U-17: LW Geordie Maguire, G Austin Lotz
U-16: LW Maverick Rafter

No Everett prospects are on the short lists for British Columbia.
