Edmonds: Police museum display
The Edmonds Police Department will celebrate its 100th anniversary in October 2012. The department is looking for photos, stories and memorabilia related to police officers in Edmonds from the early years through the 1970s. A display is planned at the Edmonds Museum in late summer and fall of next year.
If people have family members who worked for the department and might have something to share, they’re asked to contact Assistant Chief Gerry Gannon or detective Sgt. Bob Barker at 425-771-0200.
Everett: Emergency response training
The Everett Fire Department is planning to offer a Community Emergency Response Team class from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning Sept. 14.
The eight-week course provides disaster planning, recovery and survival skills aimed at assisting the community in disaster response and recovery.
To date, more than 450 people have participated in the Everett Fire Department CERT Program.
Class size is limited. Applications are available at the Everett Office of Emergency Management located at 2801 Oakes Ave. The deadline for applications is Sept. 1.

EvCC nursing students seek supplies for clinic
Everett Community College nursing students seek donations of over-the-counter medications and hygiene supplies by Nov. 15 for their trip to care for impoverished families in the Dominican Republic in December.
The group of 25 students and four instructors will volunteer Dec. 8-14 in some of the poorest neighborhoods in the capital, Santo Domingo.
They will provide medical care and health care education in makeshift clinics in neighborhoods where many cannot afford medications, vitamins or basic hygiene supplies like toothpaste and shampoo. Infection and malnourishment from unclean drinking water are common, and volunteers are expecting to treat a lot of parasitic infections.
Each EvCC group member will bring a suitcase full of medical supplies and hygiene kits. The group is especially seeking over-the-counter medications, vitamins and prenatal vitamins. Items can be dropped off at Everett Community College, 2000 Tower St., Everett, at Index room 130, Index room 163 or Parks Student Union room 209.

Mukilteo: Pioneer to share memories
Elaine Scheib Jensen will share her memories of growing up in the city during the Mukilteo Historical Society meeting Thursday.
She is the 2011 Pioneer of the Year.
The meeting is scheduled at 7:15 p.m. in the Fowler Room of the Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave., Mukilteo.
The meeting is open to the public. Refreshments will be offered.
