Everett: Free outdoor performances planned
Theater students plan to perform a fairy tale at free outdoor performances at Legion Memorial Park, Forest Park and Everett Community College.
Live actors and puppets will tell the tale of Tom Thumb, who wanders into an enchanted woods
while searching for a way home.
The play, “Tales from the Woods,” is an original children’s story written by EvCC instructor Beth Peterson.
Performances are scheduled for Legion Memorial Park, 145 Alverson Blvd., Aug. 4; at EvCC, 2000 Tower St., next to Jackson Center, Aug. 6 and 13; and at Forest Park, 802 E. Mukilteo Blvd., at the indoor theater Aug. 11 and 21.
All performances are at 6:30 p.m., rain or shine. Bring your own blanket or chair.

Lynnwood: Borrowing an ambulance
People in Lynnwood might be seeing a new ambulance around town for the next few weeks.
The city’s fire department is borrowing a rig from Mukilteo while its Medic One ambulance gets an overhaul, said Larry Hadland, who serves as the medical services officer for both fire departments.
The old ambulance will come back with a completely restored patient area, he said. The overhaul is much cheaper than buying a new ambulance, he said. Some of the parts being replaced had nearly 120,000 miles on them. The refurbished ambulance should be back in about 45 days.
Lake Stickney cleanup
Come in your grubby clothes and work on the site of a future park at Lake Stickney.
The work party is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 10. Participants will meet at 13521 Manor Way, Lynnwood. Volunteers need to pre-register.
Gloves, tools and lunch will be provided.
The event is sponsored by the Snohomish County Parks Department, Lake Stickney Conservancy, REI and Earthcore.

A discussion of parking issues also is on the agenda.
The meeting is at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 11930 Cyrus Way, Mukilteo.
