LAKE STEVENS — Kamiak starting pitcher Sam Richards pitched a complete game, allowing just five hits, to lead the Knights to a 4-2 win over Lake Stevens in a 4A District 1 playoff game Monday at Cavelero Mid-High.

“Richards came out and mixed up his pitches well and really kept us off balance the whole game,” Lake Stevens head coach Rodger Anderson said.

Seth Heck batted 3-for-3 and scored all four runs for Kamiak.

Anderson said the story of the game from his perspective was the excellent Kamiak defense.

“They made great plays on defense. That was as good as I’ve seen a high school team play all year on defense.”

Jake Nelson batted 2-3 for Lake Stevens.

Kamiak moved on to play at Jackson today at 4 p.m. Lake Stevens hosts Arlington at Cavelero Mid-High today at 4 p.m.
