You should hear her cough up a hairball: Guinness World Records has confirmed that a gray-and-white tabby cat in London named Smokey has the world’s loudest purr at 67.7 decibels. For comparison, a lawn mower reaches 90 decibels.

But how Smokey got her purr is less than admirable. Other neighborhood cats claim Smokey has “smoker’s purr” from a two-pack-day catnip habit.

What’s a poke? The Sno-Isle library in Arlington has scheduled a workshop for parents, “Facebook for Parents: Privacy and Your Kids,” on May 18, offering tips on helping your kids make smart choices about online privacy and also showing adults how to set up a Facebook account.

Don’t know much about history: On this day in 1961, FCC Chairman Newton Minow described television as a “vast wasteland” of “game shows, formula comedies about totally unbelievable families, blood and thunder, mayhem, violence, sadism, murder … gangsters, more violence and cartoons.”

To this day no one is certain how Minow got his hands on an advance screening tape of Donald Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice.”
