Front Porch: Norwegian constitution day celebrated in Everett on May 17

Celebrate May 17th

The Sons of Norway, Daughters of Norway and the Everett Norwegian Male Chorus offer a 17th of May celebration. That’s the day Norway signed its constitution in 1814, gaining independence from the Swedish crown.

The party is planned for Sunday at Normanna Hall,

2725 Oakes Ave. in Everett.

Dancing is $6 and begins at 2 p.m. A free program is at 4:30 p.m. and a $20 dinner at 5:30 p.m. There will be entertainment and a bunad parade.

Clean in Everett: Help the Port of Everett marina with spring cleaning Saturday.

Meet at 9 a.m. the Waterfront Center, 1205 Craftsman Way, Everett. Marina and Jetty Island cleanup begins at 9:30 a.m. Bring gloves and dress appropriately for the weather. Return to the Waterfront Center at noon for a barbecue and prizes.

Storm tour in Everett: The Seattle Storm Trophy Tour comes to Everett 3 to 5 p.m. this afternoon at the Everett Boys & Girls Club, 2316 12th St. in Everett.

The Trophy Tour is the first time the Storm has toured the Pacific Northwest. See the championship trophy, play basketball and qualify for a ticket to the Storm’s opening day game on June 4, courtesy of Bing.

Dine out for Kamiak: Restaurants are donating 20 percent of profits tonight to Well Done Organization, to provide clean water in Liberia.

Kamiak Leadership, from Kamiak High School in Mukilteo, says various restaurants are participating from 4 to 9 p.m. They hope to raise $2,000.
