Prep baseball: Kamiak 16-9, Cascade 5-3

MUKILTEO — Kamiak pushed the first of two Wesco South games to an eighth inning on a game-tying, two-run single by Matt Stief in the top of the seventh inning. Kamiak went on to score 11 runs in the eighth on just four hits. Cascade relief pitcher Jake Sanner walked five batters. Kamiak’s Jacob Bettencourt hit a two-RBI double in the extra inning and finished 3-for-6. Matt Stief got the win for Kamiak on the mound in just two innings of relief pitching. Cascade’s Cody Bergmans led his team with a run and an RBI, finishing 2-for-3.
In the second game, Kamiak scored three of its five seventh-inning runs on two walks and a hit batter. Pitcher Ian Davidson went the distance for the Knights, tallying four strikeouts with just one walk. Kamiak’s offense got a boost from Kel Henry, who hit 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored, and Alex Schmidt, who had three RBI and finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
