Prep girls basketball: Lakewood 46, Cedarcrest 39

DUVALL — In what was likely the most important game of the year to date for both teams, Lakewood came out on top 46-39 against Cedarcrest in a key Cascade Conference game Friday.

With the win, Lakewood clinched a 2A District 1 playoff berth. Cedarcrest earned a berth in a play-in game to district vs. a Northwest League opponent.

Lakewood had a solid first half, taking an eight-point lead into halftime.

The Cougars were led by the 14 points of Senior Kayley Mizell and 13 points from Junior Caitlyn Darrah. Senior Jordan Wessell added nine.

Cedarcrest dominated the glass, outrebounding Lakewood 31-20.

The Red Wolves’ balanced offensive attack was led by the 12 points of sophomore guard Kailyn Campbell. Teammates Susan Kenney and Courtney McKinney added five points apiece.
