Marine Corps Sgt. Caleb J. Olsen recently was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for exceptional performance while serving with 1st Battalion 3rd Marines as patrol leader. Olsen led more than 110 combat patrols during his deployments in Iraq. Olsen has fulfilled his four-year commitment with the Marine Corps and plans to attend college in southern California. He is the son of Ken and Claire Olsen of Lake Stevens and a 2005 graduate of Lake Stevens High School.
Army Pvt. Peter H. Samuela has graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The training consists of basic infantry training and advanced individual training. He is the son of Fatiaki and Alumita Samuela of Mukilteo, and is a 2009 graduate of Kamiak High School.
Army Reserve Pvt. Keller T. Holland has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Dana and Diana Holland of Arlington.
Army Pvt. Christopher E. Winslow has graduated from the Fire Support Specialist Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. The field artillery specialists serve in intelligence activities. Winslow is the son of Patty Winslow of Kirkland and Don Winslow of Bothell. He is a 2006 graduate of Juanita High School.
Coast Guard Seaman Apprentice Julie A. Janet, daughter of Cynthia Janet of Sarasota, Fla., and Jerry Janet of Oak Harbor, recently graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N.J. Janet is a 2009 graduate of Puyallup High School.
