EVERETT — Kate Pohland hit four 3-pointers and finished with 22 points as the Everett girls basketball team used a massive second-half run to pull away for a 50-23 non-league win over Cascade in the annual city rivalry game Friday night at Everett Community College.

Everett junior Morgan Carter scored 11 points and junior Brooklyn Johnson added eight for the Seagulls, who avenged last year’s loss to Cascade by beating their rivals for the seventh time in eight seasons.

Everett led just 20-19 midway through the third quarter before closing the game on a 30-4 run that included a string of 19 consecutive points.

Pohland, a 5-foot-11 senior, keyed the dominant stretch with 15 points in the game’s final 12 minutes. She drained a pair of 3-pointers during a 9-2 third-quarter run and added another triple in the fourth, stretching Everett’s lead to 32-21. The Seagulls (1-2) then added 10 more points to cap the 19-0 run.

Cascade (0-2) built an early 10-3 first-quarter lead, but managed just 13 points over the game’s final 27 minutes. Casey Lauritsen, a senior, led the Bruins with seven points.
